Senator Kay Hagan Invites Shaw U President, Dr. Irma McClaurin, to Watch Basketball at the White House

March 10, 2011 (Washington, DC) – Senator Kay Hagan (D) recognized the extraordinary CIAA achievements of Shaw University’s athletes by inviting President McClaurin to the White House. On March 9, 2010, Dr. McClaurin joined President Obama and fifty other guests to view the Bulls v. Charlotte game. Even though North Carolina lost, “it was an extraordinary opportunity to speak directly with President Obama and his staff, Senator Hagan and other movers and shakers from North Carolina and Illinois about the extraordinary achievements of our student athletes and their coaches; a once-in-a-lifetime moment ” says President McClaurin.
