In 2016, when the vision of establishing a Black Feminist Archive was translated from idea to a reality, I created this iMovie trailer as a way to gain interest in what I was doing. I am amazed and deeply humble by the warm reception to the “Irma McClaurin Black Feminist Archive.” As stated in the brochure: “There are currently no other interdisciplinary archives of this anticipated magnitude dedicated to Black women in the United States.” Because my background encompasses the humanities, the social sciences, and the sciences, the Black Feminist Archive is interdisciplinary and will be housed at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. It is a collaboration with the W.E.B. Du Bois Library’s Special Collections and University Archives and the W.E.B. Du Bois Center and “represents the vision of Dr. Irma McClaurin, an accomplished scholar, anthropologist, former university president, and award-winning writer.” Enjoy the trailer
